GIF size, FPS, and width — picking honest presets
Animated GIFs grow quickly with resolution and frame rate. LocalVideoGif exposes a few presets so you can trade smoothness for file size — without pretending every phone can encode a 4K minute-long GIF.
FPS
- 5–8: small files, choppier motion — fine for UI demos.
- 10 (default): common sweet spot for short reactions.
- 12–15: smoother, heavier; watch memory on laptops with little RAM.
Width
- 320: chat / preview sized.
- 480 (default): readable on most feeds.
- 640: sharper; larger output.
Height follows the source aspect ratio. We do not offer unrestricted custom dimensions in v1.
Duration
v1 rejects inputs longer than 15 seconds. Trim in a video editor first if you need a later segment. We will not market “any length” conversion.
