LocalVideoGif

Video to GIF in your browser — short clips, no upload

Runs locally · No upload · No account · Short clips only

Honest limits (v1): max 15 seconds, ~100 MB input, FPS 5–15, width presets 320 / 480 / 640. Not unlimited. Not any length. Mobile may run out of memory — use desktop when unsure.

Copyright: Only convert videos you own or have rights to. Do not convert others’ videos without authorization. Distinct from LocalVideoZip (video compress).

Drop MP4 / WebM / MOV here / click to choose

Parsed only in this tab · stays on this device

Ready. Pick a short MP4 / WebM / MOV (max 15s, ~100 MB).

Privacy: video is read only in this tab’s memory. Nothing is uploaded to our servers. Prove it in DevTools → Network. Soft caps protect browsers from OOM — we never claim unlimited conversion.

How it works

  1. Pick a short clip (MP4, WebM, or MOV) — over-limit files are rejected early.
  2. Choose max seconds, FPS, and width. Preview stays in this tab.
  3. ffmpeg.wasm (when wired) re-encodes to GIF on your CPU — not on our servers.
  4. Download the GIF. Open DevTools → Network: you should see no video upload.

We do not offer cloud rendering, accounts, watermarks, or “any length” conversion.

FAQ

Is my video uploaded?

No. Conversion runs in your browser with ffmpeg.wasm. The file never leaves your device. Open DevTools → Network while you convert: you should see no upload of your video.

Which formats work?

MVP accepts MP4, WebM, and MOV. Other containers may fail or be rejected with a clear message.

How long can the clip be?

v1 caps input at 15 seconds and about 100 MB. Longer or larger files are rejected early. We never claim unlimited or any-length conversion — browser memory is finite.

Will it work on my phone?

Maybe for tiny clips. ffmpeg.wasm is memory-heavy; phones often hit out-of-memory errors. Desktop Chrome or Firefox is recommended. Clear errors are shown when the tab runs out of memory.

Is this the same as LocalVideoZip?

No. LocalVideoZip compresses video. LocalVideoGif converts short clips to animated GIF. Separate product, separate URL, different theme.

Can I convert copyrighted videos?

Only convert videos you own or have rights to. Do not use this tool to convert others’ videos without authorization. See Terms.

Is it free?

Yes. No account and no watermark in the MVP. This pages.dev experiment does not load AdSense scripts.
